5 Fun Decks for the Eternal Ranked Queue!

The Eternal ranked queue is on fire. After the recent updates and new grassroot tournaments (and even an unofficial World Championship), Legends of Runeterra entered a new era.

We are once again cooking decks, and the game has never been more alive. At least since Riot announced they were ending support for PvP.

In this article, I'll show you a few very interesting lists and cool archetypes that have been popping up in the ranked queue recently.

These decks are great, but are not the best meta decks for the ranked queue. Nonetheless, they're very fun, and will easily steal a few wins for you here and there.

Let's see, then, what are the most creative (or nostalgic) decks seeing play in the Eternal ranked queue right now!

Sugary Heisho

This list centers around one of the craziest combos of all time. To set it up, you don't play any unit except Heisho, Shell of the World so you can activate your Sugary Snare.

Sugary Snare is one of the worst cards in the game. However, in Eternal, you can build an entire deck around getting as much value out of its effect as you can. Its effect swaps one unit in play for one on the top of your deck. If you only play 3 copies of a unit in your deck, the only unit you'll bring forth with Sugary Snare is that unit. This means you can summon Heisho on turn 5 if you have 3 spell mana saved and one unit in play, which is extremely broken either way.

You can summon this particular unit with the many spells that create units in this list. The most important one is Fae Aid, which creates a Hungry Owlcat. This is a great, cheap unit with Spellshield that you can use as a base for your main combo.

The main idea behind this list is controlling your opponent, then summoning Heisho on turn 5 and setting up crazy strategies with its effect, which discounts the first card you play each turn by 9 mana. This means you can play Empyrean Dance for zero mana, for instance, and then play The Heart of the Tree on the board, all on the same turn. You'll still have a little bit of mana left to save for the following turn, too.

In fact, the possibilities are endless. This list doesn't use a specific win condition, you'll have to create it with The Heart of the Tree or Treasured Trash.

To handle enemy pressure until you can play this combo, this list includes many cards that create units, like Nine Lives, the best defensive spell against Aggro lists. Then, there's Fae Sprout and Fae Aid, which will also help you block enemy units and are critical for your combo as well.

Taliyah Kidnapper

This is another creation by the misunderstood genius, LawaLoR (hey, Lawa).

This Midrange list combines Shurima and Demacia in an extremely original way, with Capture and Overwhelm units that scale up as the match goes on.

The most important cards in this list are Waste Walker and Herald of the Magus. Walker gains stats whenever you destroy an allied landmark, and Herald gives all your champions Overwhelm, which is an extremely broken keyword in Sivir and Taliyah.

The main idea behind this list is summoning landmarks and strong units, Capturing enemy units whenever you can, and opening space on the enemy board. That's the only way you'll be able to deal lethal damage to the enemy Nexus with Overwhelm.

Please note that this deck doesn't play lots of spells. That's because one of the landmarks you'll summon and re-summon over and over is Petricite Pillar, which makes all spells cost 2 more mana.

If you "spam" this landmark on the board, your opponent will get stuck and won't be able to play any cards. Meanwhile, you'll fill your board with units and Capture any unit your opponent plays with your Captain Arrika and other cards.

Without a question, it is one of the most original and fun lists I've seen in a while, and it's worth a try on the ranked queue.

Timelines - Sad Version

This is a regular Timelines list, that is, what was once one of the most broken lists in the entire game. However, you'll simply ignore the fact that Concurrent Timelines are now horrible.

Even though this card is horrible, this list is still quite strong. Every once in a while, you can take advantage of your Timelines to "steal" the game, just a bit, and summon a huge unit with Scout on turn 4 or something.

This is one of those nostalgic lists that, for some reason, has become popular again, and has a great win rate (over 55%) in the Eternal ranked queue.

Though I know many of you hate this archetype, I had to add it to this list because it is one of my favorite decks of all time and seeing it return makes me quite happy. Even though this is only the sad version of it.

Arbiter of the Peak

This is also a nostalgic archetype, as well as one of the most interesting lists in the history of Runeterra. It is currently one of the best decks in Eternal right now, with a win rate of over 60%.

It is a Midrange list that takes advantage of Akshan's entire "target allies" kit with Arbiter of the Peak, one of your main finishers.

Furthermore, Elder Dragon's Dragon Boons technically "target allies", and, as such, help you level up Akshan and make Arbiter of the Peak cheaper.

Your other main cards are The Darkin Bloodletters, more specifically Xolaani, which, to go in play, needs to kill an ally - and target an allied unit.

This is one of those few decks that, as you play, you realize it all comes together very nicely. All cards are connected to each other, and everything interacts with everything.

To win, you'll play many cards with Overwhelm and Dragon Boons, or even a level 2 Elder Dragon, sometimes even level 2 Sivir. Everything in this list seems like a win condition, which just proves how it is built well.

My only tip for you if you want to play this list is: always keep as many Ancient Yeti as you can in your opening hand, and Akshan. Without these cards, this deck doesn't really work.

Proliferating Darkwraith

This deck was also created by LawaLoR. It is the Proliferating Darkwraith archetype, that is, a list focused on controlling the opponent while you buff the Darkwraiths in your deck exponentially.

Loading icon

It is really similar to Endure-Spiders, which used to play a giant They Who Endure on the board and ended the game with a single strike.

However, its main game plan is removing all enemy units, healing constantly, and, finally, playing a giant Darkwraith, or playing multiple of them turn after turn with Warmother's Call.

After that, just attack the enemy Nexus with them or finish with Atrocity. It's really quite simple.

You can tutor your Darkwraiths with Gift of the Hearthblood and create many of them with The Iron Conquest. These two cards make this list incredibly consistent.

It is easy to play and learn, so it's great if you want an easy, fun deck to spend time on the Eternal ranked queue.
